These eight lectures are among Steiner' papers and presentations of thirty-four addresses from the years 1901–1905, including those from Steiner's teaching at the Berlin “Worker's Training School,” as well as reports on his work in the “Giordano Bruno Movement” in 1902. The main sections of the volume include lectures on the following topics:
- World and Life Views from the Earliest Times to the Present
- History of the Middle Ages to the Great Inventions and Discoveries (this volume)
- Schiller and Our Times.
All of these lectures were given at Berlin from October 18 through December 20, 1904. They were translated from notes, unrevisd by Rudolf Steiner, by an unknown translator.
